When analyzing complex host-pathogen samples for epidemiological genomic surveillance, a panel with high sensibility and high diversity is ideal. That’s why Dr. Semanas, NGS lab engineer at the genEPII sequencing platform (Hospices Civils de Lyon), wanted to try the new Illumina panels: Viral Surveillance Panel (VSP) and Respiratory Pathogen ID/AMR Panel (RPIP).
In this presentation, Dr. Semanas shows the results of an evaluation study where sequencing efficiency of the VSP and RPIP workflows is compared with a handmade workflow, on monkeypox DNA extracts, using the Illumina RNA library prep with enrichment, NovaSeqᵀᴹ SP flow cell, and BaseSpace data analysis.
The results demonstrate how the Illumina workflows with VSP and RPIP could be useful as supplementary tools when conventional techniques can’t reach expected results for pathogen identification.
