Join Andre Eggen, our Global Director of Agrigenomics, as he dives into Illumina’s latest innovations in sequencing technologies that are advancing animal and plant research and breeding.

This webinar will cover how Illumina’s latest breakthroughs—5-base chemistry, single-cell genomics, spatial transcriptomics, and advanced bioinformatics—are reshaping how we understand and apply biology in agriculture. These technologies enable simultaneous detection of genetic and epigenetic markers, high-resolution cell mapping, and integrated multiomic analysis.

In agrigenomics, this means faster, more precise breeding decisions, early disease detection, and deeper insights into traits like fertility, resilience, and productivity. By unlocking complex biological signals, Illumina empowers breeders and researchers to design smarter, more sustainable breeding programs.

Speaker Profile

As Illumina’s Global Director of Agrigenomics, André Eggen plays a pivotal role in advancing genomic technologies that support researchers and breeders worldwide. With over 16 years at Illumina, he has led strategic initiatives across sequencing and array platforms, helping transform agrigenomics into a cornerstone of modern breeding and research. Dr. Eggen’s influence spans product development, customer engagement, and scientific leadership. Prior to joining Illumina, Dr. Eggen served as Research Director at INRAe. His research focused on genomic tools for improving livestock genetics, breeding, and health. He earned his Ph.D. in animal genetics from ETH Zürich in 1992.
