Advances in sequencing and functional genomics are rapidly transforming how researchers and breeders study complex traits in animals and plants. This talk highlights Illumina’s latest technologies driving that shift—from high-throughput platforms like TruPath for scalable, cost-efficient whole-genome and targeted sequencing to species-specific methylation arrays that reveal new insights into epigenetic regulation, aging, and environmental response. Through examples in cattle, aquaculture, and crop breeding, we’ll explore how integrated genomic and epigenomic approaches are accelerating trait discovery, improving genomic selection, and enabling more powerful population-scale studies. As agriculture faces growing demands for sustainability, resilience, and productivity, these innovations are helping researchers generate deeper biological insight and enabling breeders to make faster, more informed decisions.
