Natural Food Production: Sequencing takes center stage | Illumina SciMon Video

23 September 2014

Synopsis: Sequencing accelerates breeding programs for food-producing animals by helping to identify and select desirable characteristics, such as disease resistance. By breeding animals that are naturally resistant to the disease, farmers can reduce the use of antibiotics. Potentially, heavy economic losses such as those experienced in the poultry industry due to avian pathogenic E.Coli (APEC) and it antibiotic resistance can be avoided.
