Two flow cell options for increased flexibility

S2 flow cells provide a quick, powerful, and cost-effective option for high-throughput sequencing. S4 flow cells offer tunable output and additional flexibility, yielding exceptionally high throughput while enabling cost-effective sequencing across a range of applications and depth of coverage.

NovaSeq 6000Dx Reagent Kits are manufactured under current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) regulations. These kits were developed under design control principles and are verified to ensure consistent assay performance.

Intended use

The Illumina NovaSeq 6000Dx S2 Reagent Kit (300 cycles) is a set of reagents and consumables intended for sequencing of sample libraries when used with validated assays. The kit is intended for use with the NovaSeq 6000Dx instrument and analytical software.

The Illumina NovaSeq 6000Dx S4 Reagent Kit (300 cycles) is a set of reagents and consumables intended for sequencing of sample libraries when used with validated assays. The kit is intended for use with the NovaSeq 6000Dx instrument and analytical software.

Each reagent kit contains one NovaSeq 6000Dx flow cell (with four lanes) and reagent consumables to support a single flow cell 300 cycles run on the NovaSeq 6000Dx Instrument. 

The NovaSeq 6000Dx Instrument and NovaSeq 6000Dx Reagent Kits are compatible with the Illumina DNA Prep with Enrichment Dx kits for in vitro diagnostic applications.  

Answer 3 S2 and S4 flow cells both offer a paired-end read length of 2 x 150 bp and a data quality score of ≥ 85% Q30. They differ in other performance parameters: The S2 flow cells delivers ≥ 1 Tb output and, ≥ 6.67 B reads per run in ≤ 40 hours run time, and ≥ 85% Q30 data quality score, while the S4 flow cell delivers ≥ 3 Tb output and ≥ 20 B reads per run in ≤ 45 hours run time. The NovaSeq 6000Dx Instrument uses patterned flow cell technology to generate a high level of throughput for a broad range of sequencing applications. Patterned flow cells contain billions of nanowells at fixed locations, a design that provides even spacing of sequencing clusters. This provides significant increases in sequencing reads and total output of the system.
