Reagents provided in the Illumina Ribo-Zero Plus rRNA Depletion Kit remove abundant RNA, such as ribosomal RNA and human globin transcripts, using enzymatic depletion. The remaining RNA is then converted into sequencing-ready libraries for Illumina sequencing systems using any stranded RNA prep.

Multispecies ribodepletion

The Illumina Ribo-Zero Plus rRNA Depletion Kit depletes globin mRNAs from human blood samples. The mouse and rat globin mRNAs with homologous sequence with human's globin mRNAs are also removed. Use of this kit with other organisms has not been tested and is not supported.
