Using the Pan-Coronavirus Panel (Pan-CoV) with Illumina RNA Prep with Enrichment allows researchers to characterize and obtain WGS data for over 200 known animal coronaviruses and closely related novel coronaviruses, for surveillance of animal reservoirs and sequencing of known human coronaviruses.
Target enrichment through a hybrid–capture method allows for highly sensitive detection, without requiring the high read depth needed for shotgun metagenomic sequencing. Additionally, this method allows for whole genome sequencing of coronaviruses for understanding viral evolution and surveillance.1
Compared to other targeted sequencing methods, such as amplicon sequencing, enrichment through hybrid-capture allows for effective whole genome sequencing of viruses, including those with highly mutagenic regions, allowing for characterization and discovery of known and novel coronaviruses.
This comprehensive workflow integrates library preparation, target enrichment, sequencing, and data analysis. The workflow is intended to enrich for whole viral genomes from extracted RNA. Corresponding data analysis can be completed with the DRAGEN Microbial Enrichment BaseSpace app.
